This Week's Church Musician Jobs Tip – Say No

Hope you’ve had a good week.

It is becoming more clear to me that one way to preserve your sanity and keep your team in tact may be to say “no” more often.

When people leave your ministry team because someone has assumed they would just do something, no questions asked, that is usually a sign of other problems that have collected for some time.

As much as we would prefer they just take a break instead of leaving, we don’t always get our way. It falls on the leader to be the one to define levels of responsibility and set expectations with other leaders, especially when piling on requests for more.

Don’t be afraid to say no. It will preserve your team and give you an opportunity to set more healthy expectations for every one.
