This month I want to highlight the inner life of the church musician. What happens when the inner life is not consistent with the outer life, meaning the life everyone can see?
Sin is often the reason. We have a strong pull from the world, or our own past, to drift away from truth into some bad places. Sometimes the journey back to God forces us into some dark places, not only to face our sin, but also to better understand God's immeasurable love and forgiveness - and to prepare us better to never repeat what got us off track. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
If you're in this place for a season, Philippians 2:13 says "God is at work in you both to will and to work for His good pleasure." The following verses from Hosea 6 have been encouraging while I pass through a valley - renewing my hope.
“Come, let us return to the Lord. For He has torn us, but He will heal us; He has wounded us, but He will bandage us.
“He will revive us after two days; He will raise us up on the third day, That we may live before Him.
“So let us know, let us press on to know the Lord. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; And He will come to us like the rain, Like the spring rain watering the earth.”
Maybe you know someone who would be encouraged to hear these promises from God.
I completed a video this month. Something I recorded on Instagram. Let me know what your favorites are. I've taken an interest in public domain hymns lately so I can steer clear of copyright issues. You can check the link here
Due to expenses I am closing down this website. Consequently this will be the last issue of this newsletter. If you have any interest in staying in touch, feel free to connect with me at facebook.com/churchmusicianjobs or on instagram at calmanteridge.
