Who God Is - no secret

Many have asked who God is. It seems to be one of life's basic questions. We can learn the answer by reading the Scriptures that link just below.

Daniel 3:16-18

How could they say this?

They knew who God is – not a celestial bell-hop ready to grant their every desire.

Worship because of who God is

They worshiped God for who He is – His attributes and character, instead of what He had done for them, just their personal blessings.

An example would be coming honestly, when you do not feel like worshiping God.

We may be up and down – but God’s character is even.

That is where worship begins – it must be based on who God is, just like our story, not our mood, or experiences.

Their God-worship was so much a part of their lives they did not need to defend themselves.

Their focus was pleasing God, not a misguided king. They knew God was the only One to be worshiped.

Remember the kind of worshipers the Father seeks? – we must allow our spirits, the real us, our personalities to engage that truth and let it influence us – how we act, think and live.

Daniel 3:25

Because their worship pleased God, because their hearts were right and they kept themselves separate from the mass of people worshiping an idol, God met them in their worship.

They became missionaries . . . by worshiping God.

Psalm 40:1-3

Worship and Missions meet

Who put a new song in my mouth?

God

What was the result?

Many will see and fear and put their trust in God.

Isn’t this defining what happens in worship?

God put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.

What helps people put their trust in God?

Missions/Evangelism

The power of missions is worship

In his book on worship in the church, “Let The Nations Be Glad”, John Piper. Writes:

All of history is moving toward one great goal, the white hot worship of God and his Son among all the peoples of the earth.

Missions is not that goal.

It is the means and for that reason it is the second greatest human activity in the world.

The power of missions is worship.

Missions is not the ultimate goal of the Church. Worship is.

Missions exists because worship doesn’t.

Worship is ultimate, not missions, because God is ultimate, not man.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego worshiped God and evangelized a kingdom!
