Music Director

St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, a growing, vibrant faith community in Mendota Heights, is seeking a part-time music director to lead our overall music ministry. In partnership with church leadership, the ideal candidate will develop and coordinate all aspects of the church’s music program, which currently includes a chancel choir, bell choir, church service accompaniment (pipe organ, piano, instruments), as well as youth and children’s music activities.
Core Responsibilities:
· Overall management and direction of the church’s music ministry.
· Directing the chancel choir. (An important facet of the Music Director’s responsibilities includes performing or supervising accompaniment at services and rehearsals). .
Other Responsibilities may be fulfilled by the Music Director or by other staff or church member volunteers, under the supervision of the Music Director. These include:
· Directing the bell choir
· Developing a music program for children and youth through recruiting and mentoring leadership within the congregation.
· Overseeing the care and repair of all instruments and equipment
· Developing, submitting, and managing the music budget.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have previous experience in church choir conducting, organ/keyboarding skills, knowledge of and creativity with a wide variety of church music, providing direction to other music professionals and a strong ability to work well as a team with the Pastor and staff. Preferred qualifications include a Degree in Music, pipe organ skill and bell ringing experience. Salary and benefits package are commensurate with experience and assumed responsibilities.
