Music Director Position

All Saints’ Lutheran Church in Lilburn, GA
Seeking a Part-time Director of Music

Required hours: Sunday worship service: 9:00 am to 12:00 noon; Wednesday: Worship service and Chancel Choir/Celebration Band rehearsal: 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Other hours negotiable with Pastor/Choir/Band as needed.

Qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in music performance or education; experience in choral direction (3-5 years); experience in organ and piano performance; and a committed relationship with Jesus Christ and some familiarity with the basic tenets of the Lutheran Church.

Other requirements include: overseeing the existing musical groups of the congregation; providing organ, piano, or keyboard music for all Sunday worship and special services throughout the year (midweek Lenten and Advent; Wednesday Night; Holy Week; and Christmas Eve); directing and accompanying the Chancel Choir; selecting choir anthems appropriate for the service according to the Church’s calendar year with Pastoral approval; conducting and selecting music for the Celebration Band; arranging for substitutes when needed; scheduling care for the church’s musical instruments; providing information on all music to be included in the Order of Service each week and proofread the Order of Service; providing music for special services (weddings, funerals, etc.) and coordinating music with the Pastor.

General information about position
The church has a Rodgers three-manual organ, a Mason & Hamlin 6’ grand piano and five octaves of English hand bells. The Celebration Band members own guitar, bass guitar, concertina, drum set and keyboard.

The church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ECLA) and typically has an attendance of 100 worshippers.

Salary offered: Approx. $15,000 per year (about 12 hours per week). References are required and the previous Music Director is willing to talk to the candidate/s.
