Gospel Choir Director

Park Hill United Methodist Church, 5209 Montview Blvd., Denver, Colorado (www.phumc.org), is seeking to fill the position of Gospel Choir Director, beginning September 1, 2010.

This choir's primary repertoire is in the contemporary/black gospel musical style. The Director must be a spirit-filled, devoted Christian who has strong communication and organizational skills, along with the charisma and desire to grow the choir in both number and skill. The position requires high music-reading skills as well as an ability to teach a song by "rote" when necessary.

The Gospel Choir Director meets weekly with the Director of Music and the 9 am Worship Leader in order to plan a cohesive contemporary gospel worship service. The Gospel Choir will have a two-hour mid-week rehearsal, and sing every Sunday morning at the 9 am Contemporary Gospel Worship Service. Sunday mornings begin with rehearsal at 8 am.

This position has a start date of September 1, 2010. The position is a program year (September thru May) position. Salary is negotiable, but not to exceed $6400.
