Great Rules
by: Jackie

I totally agree with all of your rules except possibly number 1. We like to rehearse in the worship space because it gives us a feel for what the room is like and how we can best use our sound to fill it (easier when the room is empty). We can also practice the spatial relationship between players/singers so everyone can see and be seen. Also, our drummer prefers to leave his drums set up in one place and not have to tear them down and haul them someplace else. That's just my thought.

And I TOTALLY agree about not letting the singers lead the band. The band has to play what they can play, and the singers have to accept that and be able to pick it up and run with it. We have had a problem with that in our church (now temporarily cured, but I'm afraid it will rear its ugly head again). I'll refer to your article when I need reinforcement on that point.

Thanks for some great insights!
