MINISTRY STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION


POSITION: CHOIR DIRECTOR

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-time: 40 weeks per year

COMPENSATION: $150.00 per week

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Pastor and Board of Deacons

PURPOSE: To serve the church by developing and coordinating an effective and well-rounded music program and providing leadership to and supervision of volunteers involved in this ministry.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Consult with the pastor regarding theme of each worship service, special programs, selection of hymns and choral music.

- Recruit and direct the adult choir.

- Train choir in choral techniques, appreciation of sacred music, and leadership and participation in worship.

- Coordinate with the organist/musicians.

- Select music, worship and music resources, services of outside instrumentalists, musical instruments and equipment within approved budget constraints.

- Maintain the music library.

- Attend, as requested, Board of Deacons meetings as a resource and for informational purposes.

- Cooperate with the Sunday School Music Program as needed.
