Job Opening for Choir Director

Grace Episcopal Church in Middletown, NY (75 miles NW of New York City) is seeking a Choir Director. This part-time position directing the Adult Choir is available January 2, 2011 or sooner.

The choir currently consists of 16 singers, including several professional musicians. Repertoire tends toward classical and traditionally Anglican music, recently including Anglican Chant, Choral Evensong and Advent Lessons & Carols services. We are looking for an energetic choral musician with an appreciation and knowledge of the Episcopal liturgy and the role of music in it. Keyboard skills desirable. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and ability.

Grace Church is located at the heart of Middletown and is locally known for presenting beautiful liturgy and music in a wonderful, vaulted sanctuary. An excellent Steinway grand piano and Austin pipe organ are available and the choir seating area was recently renovated with risers added for excellent sight lines. The parish is also known for its Guild of St. Margaret Soup Kitchen which serves about 150 hot meals every day of the year.
