Director of Music Ministry
Position Description

Purpose: To help coordinate, plan, and lead the weekly music component of our congregation’s worship.

Responsibilities:
• Coordinate, plan and help lead weekly worship music in close collaboration with pastor and Music Team.
• Facilitate weekly rehearsal of the Music Team, cultivating Team members’ gifts and abilities.
• Help to call forth the musical gifts of the larger congregation to be offered up in worship, e.g., by scheduling and assisting with special music offerings (such as during weekly offertory or communion) and directing other endeavors (possibly choral or a cappella offerings).
• Encourage full inclusion of children in the music program, as both participants and leaders where appropriate, in order to foster worship that is truly intergenerational.
• Perform job responsibilities for special services that fall outside of Sundays (e.g., Lent, Advent, retreats).
• Pursue other musical projects where gifts and interests intersect with congregation’s.
• Participate in musical components of worship renewal grant project (if awarded grant).

Required:
• Mature Christian faith.
• Some musical training or demonstrated musical aptitude.
• Experience and familiarity with a broad range of music, from traditional to various forms of contemporary.
• Ability to collaborate closely with the pastor and the Music Team.
• Experience leading worship and leading a team of musicians and worship leaders.
• Able to make a 3-yr commitment and serve year-round (4 Sundays off a year).
• A track record of follow through on important responsibilities and commitments.

Accountability and Evaluation: Accountable to the pastor as head of staff. After an initial 3-month trial period, performance reviews will take place annually with the pastor and the Personnel Team.

Compensation: Negotiable, based on experience and other factors. Employment status will be non-employee contract worker (no benefits beyond monetary compensation, the adequacy of which will be reviewed annually).
