Psalm 27:4 says, “One thing I asked from the Lord, that I shall seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to meditate in His temple.”
One translation says to delight in His perfections. I love that. Delighting in His perfections is how we are to spend our time with Lord and we're to do it all the time. The next few verses show how the reason we sing, our motivation, our sacrifice, our praise all come from this experience of delighting in Him, the Lord.
What great encouragement this is in a time when it is so easy to let our vision wander to less important things that can rob us of praise. May you be lifted up to seek the real why of all your activities as a leader of musicians in Christ's church – delighting in Him.
